Spring Equinox Dinner

Spring Equinox Dinner: Return of the Light

The Spring Equinox means that the days are finally longer than the nights and the growing season is nearly upon us. Our farm is beginning to wake up and early spring greens are upon us. It’s a time of rebirth and regeneration.

Cultures around the world, especially in those colder climates, observe the Spring Equinox. It has historically been a time for people to celebrate that they survived the winter, will soon be sowing the soil again and are no longer dependent on their storage cellar. Cows, sheep and pigs begin to bear young again as nights are warm enough for babes; chicks and ducks begin to lay eggs again; and fish begin traveling en masse to spawn.

For our celebration, Chef Ali has honored those traditions and chosen symbols of spring and regeneration paired with the storage crops traditional cultures would still depend on at this time.

About Coriander’s Equinox/Solstice Series of Dinners

Join Coriander Kitchen & Farm for a series of special Equinox and Solstice Dinners celebrating the changing of the seasons.

As the city’s only farm AND table restaurant, Coriander is intimately tied to the seasons, the light and the harvest. What we put on our regular menu highlights what we – and our local farmer partners – grow. But these dinners allow us to get more creative and really highlight our connection to the land, our urban-growing environment and the stories behind them.

Let Chef Ali and Farmer Gwen share the beginning of spring by bringing it to your table.

Plus, dinners – weather dependent – will be held on our upper roof deck with sweeping views of the canal (usually only accessible for private events!) or on our Farm.
